Community Outreach

Community Outreach

ACTS

Throughout the year, Spirit & Life Church works with a local organization called Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) to help the homeless, hungry, abused, and hurting in our community.

Streetlight Community Outreach

Streetlight Community Outreach is a ministry to the homeless and needy in our community. At the weekly Harvest Banquet meals, we join in worship, help with clothes distribution, and assist with food distribution and in serving meals. At Christmas we provide volunteer translators for toys signup and parties. Our members donate to monthly Sunday collections of coats, clothing, propane tanks, socks and more as God leads us and in response to seasonal needs.

Rise Against Hunger

Rise Against Hunger is a unique meal packaging ministry that we participate in at least once per year. Bulk dehydrated food is brought into the church on a Sunday and we spend the morning working to repackage it into individualized servings for easier distribution to disaster areas around the world. We have helped to feed tens of thousands of needy people around the world in this way!

Kits for Conference

We create hygiene kits and collect other necessary supplies for mission areas around the world through the Virginia United Methodist Annual Conference.

Mission Trips

We coordinate special domestic and international mission trips around the world through United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) and other organizations to places like Costa Rica, Korea, and more!

Local Community Relief

As designated funding is available, we offer direct assistance to local individuals and families in material need.

Other Missions and Outreach Opportunities

Many of our small groups also offer dozens of other unique opportunities for outreach and community service in various forms on a very organic, grass-roots level.
